The Phases of STD Acceptance
After listening to and observing hundreds of stories of people describing their experience of first learning they have HSV, and after hearing from HSV mentors that these experiences were common and often understood as phases of self-acceptance, I decided it might be helpful to write them down and develop a uniform vocabulary. This is both an over and under simplification, but hope it will help to improve the dialogue and to be part of the effort of getting the message out that every adult has an obligation to know their HSV status and to act responsibly.
