The Phases of HSV Acceptance

An HSV diagnosis can be a shocking revelation.  In truth, hosting HSV is not at all uncommon; experiencing a clinical disease because of it, however, is less than common. While most adults do carry HSV (type 1 or 2), less than 20% experience herpetic diseases (oral herpes, genital herpes, etc) as a result.

Here, then, is the typical mental, emotional and physical journey through the phases of HSV.  These are not absolutes, but rather, general guidelines.  You may find that you are lagging behind or hung up in one area and not the others.  We hope this will help you to better understand HSV and Herpes and to help you identify areas which may need to be worked upon in order to progress.
